BONGOS CUBAN CAFE HOSTS THE 2ND ANNUAL
THANKSGIVING DAY “FEED A FRIEND”
With so many families and charitable agencies facing financial difficulties this holiday season, Bongos Cuban Cafe along with it supporters: Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Florida, Sedano’s Supermarkets and Baptist Health South Florida are partnering with three local charities to feed friends and families in transition on this Thanksgiving Day.
Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Camillus House and The Community Partnership for the Homeless will be inviting over 1500 guests to join together on the day of thanks for a Cuban-American, fusion holiday feast at Bongos Cuban Café (601 Biscayne Blvd.) on Thursday, November 26th from 11am-7pm.
Families in transition will be able to join together for a meal featuring traditional American Thanksgiving classics such as roasted turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole and cranberry sauce in addition to a traditional Cuban lechon asado (roasted pork) and traditional Cuban fixings including fried plantains, cassava in mojo sauce. Famous pumpkin pie, rice pudding and Children’s activities including face painting, and a cotton candy machine will provide a sweet finish to a day of thanks.
Local celebrity volunteers will be on hand to spread holiday cheer and help serve on the food line.
“This event goes to show that family values still hold true, and community members from all walks of life are returning to the tradition of helping one another”, says Emilio Estefan. “Gloria and I are so thankful this holiday to partner with Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Florida, Sedano’s Supermarkets and Baptist Health South Florida in this heart warming project”
